The Forty Niners says there’s no setbacks for Christian McCaffrey. He’s on track to practice next week, as the rest of his San Francisco Forty Niners teammates get much needed downtime during this week’s bye. McCaffrey has reached an important benchmark in his recovery from Achilles tendinitis. McCaffrey, who missed the first eight games of the season because of the injury, remain in the Bay Area this week to do what coach Kyle Shanahan described Monday as simulated practice stuff. With an eye toward opening his practice window on November 4th.
Shanahan said, it depends on how the week goes. He has no setbacks, so it looks like we’re on the right track, but he’s going to hit it hard this week while we’re gone. As long as it all, all goes good, hopefully we’ll get him back and practice next week. The 49ers said he would play maybe a game or two in the preseason. Then they mentioned that he will be ready to go for the first game of the season. Then I think they mentioned the second game of the season. All of a sudden, you just didn’t know. I don’t know if the Achilles tendinitis is not improving. I think it was worse than most people in the 49ers organization thought it was. I hope this brother get healthy, and get back on the field.
