How To Watch
What to Know
The Grand Canyon Antelopes will take on the La. Tech Bulldogs in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday at at Thomas Assembly Center. The Antelopes are strutting in with some offensive muscle as they’ve averaged 80.2 points per game this season.
Grand Canyon is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Georgia just ended the team’s four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 73-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.
Ray Harrison put forth a good effort for the losing side as he posted 16 points in addition to two steals. Less helpful for Grand Canyon was Tyon Grant-Foster’s abysmal 0-8 three-point shooting.
Meanwhile, La. Tech was able to grind out a solid win over Georgia Southern on Friday, taking the game 77-63. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.
La. Tech relied on the efforts of Kaden Cooper, who went 10 for 15 en route to 25 points plus eight rebounds and three steals, and Daniel Batcho, who went 9 for 10 en route to 22 points plus eight rebounds and three blocks. Cooper is trending in the right direction considering he’s improved his point production for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Bates, who earned ten points.
Grand Canyon’s defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for La. Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Grand Canyon hasn’t had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 80.2 points per game. However, it’s not like La. Tech struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 78.6. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Grand Canyon skirted past La. Tech 73-70 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grand Canyon since the team won’t have the home-court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
