What to Know

The UC Irvine Anteaters will be staying on the road to face off against the Cal Poly Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. ET at Robert A. Mott Athletics Center. Meanwhile, the point spread may have favored Cal Poly last Saturday, but the final result did not. They took an 86-82 hit to the loss column at the hands of Neb.-Omaha. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
UC Irvine’s win bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Cal Poly, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: UC Irvine has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 38 rebounds per game. However, it’s not like Cal Poly struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 36.7. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we’ll see if one team can grab an edge.
UC Irvine was able to grind out a solid victory over Cal Poly in their previous matchup back in March, winning 82-68. The rematch might be a little tougher for UC Irvine since the team won’t have the home-court advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
